w3c.org - Basically the number one site when it comes to making your own. These guys pretty much standardize scripting languages like html so that web designers all over the globe will know their work will be able to be used by users like yourself.
Web Source - This site has some basic tips and tricks for starting off beginners new to web design, like how to code some basic html and javascript.
Webs.com - If you're looking for someone to host your website and you're strapped for cash, this is the place to go. Not only will they give you your own URL for free, but they also provide you with a bunch of options to design your site without having to delve into the code too much.
If you guys can think of any other helpful sites, feel free to leave them in the comments box!
